What should I do for God to answer my prayers?
"If you remain in me and my words remain in you; then you will ask for anything you wish and YOU SHALL HAVE IT"....Jn 15:7.
Who are those looking for the “right plug”?
Do you need a reliable assurance?
Most times, our wish might not be what we need but what we want. It is a desire i.e. something we crave for in our heart of hearts. For those who attended Economics class while in secondary school, we were taught that there is a difference between what you need and what you want. Based on your scale of preference, you are then advised to satisfy your need first before your want which might turn out to be a luxury. Thankfully, we can have all that we crave for so long as we remain in Him and His words remain in us. When we do this, God will answer our prayers.
So what does it mean for us to remain in Him and His words in us?
Basically, it means that we should obey God’s commands. See Jn 15:10-12. When we obey God’s commands, our joy will be complete. We experience peace and calmness of our souls. Furthermore, we become His friends!
What are God’s commands?
We are expected to love God, ourselves and our neighbours.
How Do we love?
St. Paul taught us in 1 Cor 13: 4-8.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud; love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs; love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth. Love never gives up; and its faith, hope, and patience never fail. Love is eternal.
Why this Divine Assurance?
God’s glory is manifested in us when we bear fruits i.e. when we are productive. Thus, it’s a curse when you fail to grow and produce, when you fail to use your talents, skills and knowledge for the good of humanity. Naturally, when God blesses you with something and you fail to use it accordingly, what happens?
1. You deny God of His glory
2. You deny humanity of the dividend of God’s blessings.
3. Such blessing will be taken away from you. Remember the parable of the talents?
“To him who has more; more will be added. To him who has little; even the little will be taken away from him”
4. We deny ourselves of God’s friendship and discipleship.
” My Father’s glory is shown by your bearing much fruit; and in this way, you become my disciple”. Jn 15: 8
People of God, let us try to remain in God’s love and ALL our wishes, prayers and request SHALL be answered and granted. Jn 15:7 is our sure plug and our assurance.
May God honour you in all that you do and wherever you find yourself. Amen!
